Epic Sunset
There are several excellent locations to see the sunset over San Francisco, but there is one that is the best. I am biased because we spent ten years living directly next to Twin Peaks, which provides 360-degree views of San Francisco. Parking can be difficult, so I would arrive a little early, but the views are well worth the wait.
Other places to see the sunset include the Golden Gate Bridge on either side of the entry, Sutro Baths if the wind isn’t blowing, and even Coit Tower.

Gardens and Parks
If you wish to enjoy some quality time outside on a pleasant day, there are a few parks and gardens that are worth seeing. I might pair the ticketed points of interest, like the wonderful Conservatory, with a picnic at one of the surrounding public parks. Every park offers a different perspective of the city.
See the Sights
You won’t want to miss any of the well-known landmarks in San Francisco. Here are some of them, in no specific order: The Ladies Painted, Views from Coit Tower, Golden Gate Bridge from either Marin or SF side, Palace of Fine Arts, Sutro Baths with views of Twin Peaks and the Pacific Ocean.
Visit the Museums
One of my favorites is visiting one of the numerous top-notch museums in San Francisco. Among our faves are MOMA, the de Young Museum, and the California Academy of Sciences. If you like modern art, your favorite will be the MOMA, which is in the heart of downtown. Our favorite for more traditional art and amazing shows is the de Young Museum, which recently included Calder and Picasso. For individuals who enjoy nature and animals, there is the California Academy of Sciences. I loved seeing the penguins there while I volunteered there.
Where to Eat in San Francisco
I’ll try to keep it brief and to the point for the top restaurants that we adore, even though I could write multiple guides just about San Francisco cuisine. More information about some of the places in the first part below may be found in my blog post on our secret list of San Francisco eateries. Additionally, I compiled my shortlist of San Francisco’s top eateries. Additionally, I’ve indicated with an asterisk the locations for which reservations are required. There are many more restaurants in San Francisco than those on this list, believe me when I say that everyone who has lived there has distinct favorites.
Where to Stay in San Francisco
As long as the town’s core is within hearing distance. You really can’t go too wrong with your placement. You will find a few things in your neighborhood before having to travel across the city because everything is within a 15 to 20-minute commute. Additionally, there are many Airbnbs that are excellent for extended stays. However, since I know I’ll be out all day anyhow, I think a hotel is fantastic for SF (things to consider: luggage storage if you have to check out early before a flight, etc.).
